Can you interpret and capture one theme in one single exposure of film every hour with a different theme each time for 12 hours straight?

For the 12x12 photo Vancouver marathon we crafted a story around the community and culture of Commercial Drive. The Drive is raw with energy and the artisan lifestyle. Coffee bars and old record shops were the perfect backdrop for our story. Our story is driven by a talented musician down on his luck trying to get back to what he does best, playing music in front of an audience. 


One unique quality to the 12x12 competition is that at the top of every hour a new theme is announced and your next shot should revolve around the new theme. Essentially each shot on film should correspond to the theme's title and hour.

Our approach to the 12x12 was different than the others in the competition because we didn't focus on each individual frame as much as we did the project as a whole. This way we were able to tell a story and create an emotional connection between the images and the viewer.
